The Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Mountain View, California.
Creative Commons’ mission is to make sharing knowledge and culture easy and legal. Our signature tools are called Creative Commons licenses, which are free copyright licenses that creators can use to offer certain usage rights to the public, while reserving other rights.
The Creative Commons License is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. Meaning, the CC provides the author flexibility and, as long as they abide by the conditions specified in the license, protects the people who want use or redistribute the author’s work. “Creative Commons” Wikipedia.
